Fitness Boosting Nordic Walking Break
Keen to burn the calories but hate the gym? Then the Ilsington Country House Hotel’s mind and metabolism boosting Nordic walking break around the dramatic granite tors of Dartmoor provides the perfect solution.
The two night weekend break starts from just £250 per person, based on two people sharing a twin or double room, and includes two nights accommodation, (arriving on 4 July or 3 October) with breakfast and dinner in the hotel’s award winning restaurant, one packed lunch plus a delicious two course roast lunch on the Sunday and two three hour Nordic walks led by an experienced instructor.
Guests will also receive a detailed explanation in the techniques for Nordic walking as well as a practical session in the hotel’s grounds. Poles are provided for the weekend. Add a relaxing massage for just £25 per person.
Developed by cross-country skiers keen to maintain their fitness out of season, Nordic walking uses 90% of the bodies skeletal muscles (like walking in four wheel drive), providing an all over body workout and burning over 400 calories an hour. It’s also suitable for all ages and fitness’s and improves body tone, alignment and coordination resulting in better core strength and posture - an added bonus for those who spend most of the week desk bound.
Elaine Sylvester, an experienced Nordic walking Instructor as well as a Dartmoor Guide and Personal Trainer, will lead the participants. Elaine has dedicated her career to educating visitors on Dartmoor’s special qualities and the benefits of walking with poles.
The Ilsington Hotel also features a leisure complex with indoor swimming pool, sauna, steam room and gym – ideal for relaxing in after a walk on the moor.
